Rap, Street art | DonChristian's work combines musical and time-based performance, video, rap mixtapes and murals in public spaces, in which he combines the genres of painting and hip-hop and refers to both classical and contemporary styles. Much of his practice today is shaped by his work on the prison island Rikers Island, where he designed murals with juvenile inmates. DonChristian's work and performances have been exhibited at the Whitney Museum, MoMA PS1, Webster Hall, Danspace Project, and the Center for Performance Research. He was Artist in Residence at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation in Captiva, Florida. Published in July 2018, Where There's Smoke is DonChristian's first studio album.
