About DJ Hype
DJ Hype has been a DJ for one of London’s pirate stations, Fantasy FM, since its inception and has enjoyed respect and popularity in the international DJ community. He’s also a key figure on London’s Kiss 100 radio station, and a contributor to Suburban Base’s compilation series, Drum and Bass Selection. An advocate of dancefloor jungle purity, DJ Hype consistently spoke out against the division of jungle into what he saw as artificial scenes in the late 90s. He never lost touch with his breakbeat roots, and founded his own label, Ganja, in 1994 – at which point he began to focus seriously on the post-rave possibilities of sampled breaks. The peak of his popularity came with the release of his first LP in 1996 entitled.
