Dis Fig
Dis Fig is the artistic pseudonym of producer and DJ Felicia Chen. Among her most iconoclastic productions is the soundtrack to An Atypical Brain Damage, an experimental 90-minute pop-opera and performance piece by Chinese contemporary artist Tianzhuo Chen, which was subsequently released by New York collective and experimental label PTP. The piece epitomises Dis Fig's musical hallmarks: dark soundscapes straight out of a horror movie, derivative industrial four-on-the-floor rhythms and psychologically turbulent themes. Dis Fig approaches DJing with the same thrill. Her selections cut through layers of rap, noise, techno and percussive club tracks, avoiding the traditional continuity of any one genre.
