Diocesan Library in Nitra

The Diocesan Library located at the St. Gorazd Priestly Seminary below Nitra Castle protects one of the rarest collections of old books in Slovakia. There is theological literature, but also rare works from history, philosophy, bibliography, literature, pedagogy, geography, natural sciences, law or linguistics. There are also various encyclopedias, historical manuscripts and magazines. The most precious part of the collection, however, are the first prints, the so-called incunabula, i.e. books printed before 1500.
