De Staat
De Staat is a Dutch band from Nijmegen, founded in 2006 by singer and producer Torre Florim, who originally developed the project as a solo initiative. Gradually, a full-fledged band emerged, making its mark in the realm of alternative rock with elements of electronic and experimental music. From the outset, De Staat has relied on original compositions and studio production led by Florim.
Their debut album Wait for Evolution was released in 2009 and was followed by Machinery (2011) and I_CON (2013), which reached the top of the Dutch charts. During this period, the band expanded its touring activities and performed at international festivals such as Glastonbury, Sziget, and Lowlands.
The band’s discography continued with the albums O (2016) and Bubble Gum (2019), which were accompanied by the release of singles and music videos, including the song Witch Doctor. The band also served as the opening act on Muse’s European tour.
In 2022–2023, the band released a series of EPs (Red, Yellow, Blue), which were subsequently compiled into the album Red / Yellow / Blue (2023). This project represents another studio phase and builds on the band’s previous work by combining rock and electronic elements. Their current work includes new singles, such as THE KING (2026).
