The aim of the meeting is to learn the perspectives of people of African origin living in Poland. The debate will allow us to find a bridge between Poland and African countries and to see how diverse African voices are in Poland. In the first part of the meeting the participants will share their experiences of living in Poland, and then together they will reflect on whether the old Polish saying „Gość w dom, Bóg w dom” ("Guest at home, God at home") is reflected in everyday life, and how the image of Africa looks in the eyes of Polish women and Poles.

Black is Polish (pl. Czarne jest polskie) is a research group established by African activists and educators who, during the pandemic and protests Black Lives Matter, publicized in the Polish public debate the experience of Polish women and Poles of African origin. Their activities resulted in a series of debates published on the YouTube platform on discrimination (#DontCallMeMurzyn) and a petition to the members of the Rhetoric and Public Communication Team to introduce a change in the definition of the word "Negro" in the Dictionary of the Polish language, which was to consider its meaning pejorative.

Host: Margaret Amaka Ohia-Nowak * Participants: Olivia Bosomtwe, Salvador Diogo, Mamadou Diouf, Tochukwu Wolisa

The debate, conducted in Polish, will be broadcast on the Museum's Facebook profile:https://www.facebook.com/MuzeumSztukiNowoczesnej/.
