Currents
Currents is an American metalcore band founded in 2011 in Newtown, Connecticut. The group emerged from the local music scene, and its music is commonly categorized within the genres of metalcore and progressive metalcore, with influences of djent and other forms of modern metal. The current lineup includes vocalist Brian Wille, guitarists Chris Wiseman and Ryan Castaldi, drummer Matt Young, and bassist Christian Pulgarin.
The band’s first releases were the EPs Victimized (2013) and Life // Lost (2015). After signing with the label SharpTone Records, Currents released their debut studio album The Place I Feel Safest in 2017. This was followed by the EP I Let the Devil In (2018) and the second studio album The Way It Ends, which was released in 2020. In 2023, the band released their third studio album The Death We Seek through SharpTone Records. The album contains ten tracks, including The Death We Seek, Remember Me, So Alone, and Vengeance. Several singles and accompanying music videos were released ahead of the album.
The band’s recent work includes new recordings following the 2023 album. In 2025, Currents released the EP All That Follows and also introduced new tracks such as It Only Gets Darker and the collaboration Bad Luck with the band We Came as Romans and the guest project After the Burial.
