Yat-Kha is a band from Tuva (South Siberia) founded by the singer and guitarist Albert Kuvezin (founding member of Huun-Huur-Tu) in Moscow in 1991 together with Russian avant-garde composer and electronic musician Ivan Sokolowski. Yat-Kha are one of the most successful groups in Siberia, with their fusion of traditional music and western rock variants, their hometown Tuva and the music of Central Asia made known. The ultra-deep throat singing (Kargyraa) of Albert Kuvezin, the charismatic head and founder of the band, makes Yat-Kha unique and unmistakable. Since the mid-1990s, Kuvezin and percussionist Zhenia - Rasputin - Tkachev have been touring the world with various international cast members, appearing at all renowned world music festivals in Europe, Canada, Japan, China and Russia. On the 6th of October the group will come to Berlin and will perform live in the Maschinenhaus at the Kulturbrauerei.
