Wim Mertens

The Belgian Wim Mertens is a composer and countertenor, plays the piano and the guitar. His compositions have great influences of American "Minimal Music" and live on the characteristic high countertenor voice. In almost 40 years of his career, Wim Mertens has written short, accessible songs, large-scale cycles and works for a variety of occupations. In the Silent Green he sits himself accompanied by a violin at the piano. In the program "That Which is Not" a recurring theme emerges from Mertens' works - the no and the not. Wim Mertens tries to overcome this negative stereotype by opening promising perspectives.
