Unsongs: Moddi

The Norwegian singer-songwriter comes to Berlin. He brings with him ten stories from five continents about forbidden songs: On the lookout for the stories of forbidden or censored music Moddi has traveled all around the world, collected songs and released the internationally praised album Unsongs, with classics like Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday and Army Dreamers by Kate Bush, but also a folk song in Sami and the Punk Prayer by Pussy Riot. On his journey Moddi met musicians and contemporary whitnesses and felt the stories of their songs: sad, shocking, bloodcurdling, but also encouraging stories about the, feared, might of music. This evening at SO36 Moddi will play the songs live, tell his stories and the stories of the prohibitions and talk to the audience. The muscial reading is a starting event of the Festival for Music and Politics, which will be happening at the Volksbühne from Friday, 29.03 until Sunday, 31.03.2019.
