Saagara is, on the one hand, European music with its classical traditions and improvisation, and on the other hand, taale, i.e. rhythmic systems originating from India. The initiator of this intercontinental meeting is an outstanding clarinettist and composer, Wacław Zimpel – an artist who has already shown a deep interest in traditions and rituals of other cultures. His journey to the Dekan peninsula was aimed at studying carnival music with the help of the most outstanding masters of South India. The result was the Saagar project, which the clarinettist co-creates with five outstanding Hiddish artists: Giridhar Udupa, Bharghava Halambi, K Raja and Mysore N. Karthik.
