Philippe Herreweghe, one of the pioneers of historical performance, a leading interpreter of Jan Sebastian Bach's works, who is constantly looking for new performance solutions and inspirations, which he implements together with his ensembles, will visit the ICE Krakow Congress Centre in March. One of them - the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées specialising in classical and romantic repertoire - will be heard in Krakow. On historical instruments we will hear II Symphony in C major Op. 61 by Robert Schumann. The star of the evening will be the violinist Isabelle Faust, who has been cooperating with Herrewegh for many years. The soloist playing the famous Stradivarius called "Sleeping Princess" will perform Johannes Brahms' Concerto for violin and orchestra in D major Op. 77. He dedicated this masterpiece of the Brahms genre to Joseph Joachim, one of the greatest violinists of the 19th century. In preparing this work, Isabelle Faust studied not only Joachim's performance tips, but also his personality and historical sources reporting on his playing style. On this basis, the artist created her own unique interpretation.
