Legend of the saxophone, multi-instrumentalist, one of the most influential and exciting European musicians of the late 20th century. He has released 18 albums so far and continues to perform all over the world with his award-winning band playing in concert halls and festivals from Fuji Rock, Montreux to Cape Town. His numerous TV and radio appearances include Mandela Living Legend for BBC and awarded by Sony and Jazz Crusade Courtney Pine for BBC Radio2. For his services to jazz music, he was appointed an officer of the Order of the British Empire, received an honorary doctorate from the University of Westminster and an honorary doctorate from the University of Southampton. In the 80s he was one of the first black British jazz artists who made an important mark on the jazz scene. His debut album, Journey To The Urge Within, was on the list of the 40 best albums.
