Jazz Jamboree 2018: Marcin Masecki + The Bad Plus + more

The Bad Plus, Marcin Olak Imagine Nation with Liberty Ellman and Marcin Masecki with Mike Marshall will perform at the Jazz Jamboree 2018 in Warsaw's Stodoła club on 26 October.

Marcin Masecki - pianist, composer, conductor, activist, Warsaw musician. He is a leader or member of many extremely diverse projects, his trademark is a virtuoso fusion of stylistically different genres, and crossing the boundaries between the so-called high art and entertainment. He will play with American mandolin virtuoso Mike Marshall on 26 October. The Bad Plus is a jazz trio from Minneapolis, Minnesota, consisting of bassist Reid Anderson, pianist Orrin Evans, and drummer Dave King. The band came together at the end of the 20th century and has avoided easy categorization ever since, winning critical hosannas and a legion of fans worldwide with their creativity, unique sound and flair for live performance. Marcin Olak Imagine Nation is a project combining elements of contemporary composition with improvisation. The musicians who make up the band play jazz, but this time they will try to go beyond the mainstream idiom. The leader of the band, Marcin Olak, is known for combining contemporary chamber music with jazz, but over the past few years he has experimented with open forms. Imagine Nation is an attempt to combine these two worlds - on the one hand, precisely composed music and improvisation precisely placed in the form of a piece, and on the other hand, the open form, without any imposed rules, which is the result of a meeting of musicians, taking place here and now. This material will be performed for the first time during this year's edition of the Jazz Jamboree festival. Imagine Nation is Marcin Olak (guitars), Patryk Zakrocki (viola, electronics), Ksawery Wójciński (double bass) and Hubert Zemler (drums). During their debut concert, the band will be joined by the phenomenal American guitarist Liberty Ellman.
