James Holden & The Animal Spirits

While the beton opera usually stands for a sort of continuity this is very different with human beings. Border Community head James Holden has been welcomed three times already at Wriezener Bahnhof – only better, that this time he performs not only solo but with his band Animal Spirits. Under this project title, James Holden & The Animal Spirits, he has crafted an album of the same name including an organic, lively mixture of folk, jazz and electronic music.

Recorded in summer 2016 at Holden's London studio the album was made fully without any overdubs or edits. The Animal Spirits reached a genre blending new kind of music that naturally feels floating, lively and organic. Holden has thereby grown from a pioneer of early 90s computer music to a band leader: his synth and drum core combo plays on a cornet (Marcus Hamblett) and saxophone (Etienne Jaumet) besides Holden's synthesizers. Meanwhile inseparably with them is drummer Tom Page.

There will be lots of synth folk trance and dancefloor shamanism in form of a spiritual jazz band format.
