– A. Dvořák: Symphony No. 4
– A. Dvořák: My Home, Op. 62
Musica Florea continues in its discovery of the original sound of the Symphonies of Antonín Dvořák. This year, they bring you Dvorak’s 4th Symphony. The program will be supplemented with the prelude My Home, opus 62. This is stage music for Ferdinand Šamberk’s play Josef Kajetán Tyl, with its theme derived from František Škroup’s song Kde domov můj.
An authentic interpretation helps Musica Florea to discover what has often been insensitively forgotten. It offers us impulses towards enrichment, which art vitally requires. At this concert dedicated to Romantic composer A. Dvořák, orchestral compositions on Romantic-era instruments will be heard. What’s the motivation of ensemble? The richness of the Romantic interpretation was limited significantly under the pressure of the “technical“ approach to notation over the course of the 20th century. Many original means of expression are today overlooked and forgotten out of ignorance. This especially applies for the portamento style of play. A. Dvořák’s 4th Symphony is a fantastic and very suitable opportunity to implement the composer’s own intentions. This project is a part of our broader project of performing and recording authentic interpretations of all of his symphonies.
