15 Lat Karrot Kommando: Warsaw Village Band + Roberto Delira + DJ Krzaku

The Polish independent publishing agency Karrot Kommando celebrates its 15th birthday. On the third day of the celebration you will hear Warsaw Village Band, Roberto Delira and DJ Krzaku.

Warsaw Village Band is a band from Warsaw, Poland which plays traditional Polish folk music tunes combined with modern elements. According to the band's creative manifesto, it was formed as a response to mass culture and narrow-mindedness, "which in fact leads to destruction of human dignity." Indeed, after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the expansion of the European Union to most of the former Warsaw Pact countries, Poland's economy has grown dramatically, while at the same time ushering in investment by a number of multinational corporations, leading to concerns of globalism and loss of Poland's cultural identity.

Robert Jaworski is a Polish folk musician, songwriter, leader of the band Żywiołak and Robert Delira & Kompany. In the past, a member of such groups as Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa, Detonacja, The Irish Connections, Ceol and Ich Trole. In his projects, Jaworski uses various ancient instruments such as hurdy gurdy, Gdańsk giants, the drumla or their contemporary reconstructions. He also plays the baroque lute, violin and viola, and he often practices guttural singing.
