Cities of Mars
Cities of Mars is a psych-fuzzed out Doom trio from Gothenburg, Sweden. Their music is all about heavy guitar riffs, groove and story about a saga of an ancient Martian civilization, awoken by the arrival of a KGB cosmonaut. Each song is a chapter, adding piece by piece to an unfolding story dating back to prehistoric Earth. Their style was influenced by artists like Monolord, Mastodon, The Sword, Tool, Elder, We Hunt Buffalo, Kylesa and High on Fire. The band members Danne Palm (bass and vocals), Christoffer Norén (guitars and vocals) and Johan Küchler (drums and vocals) realize the mixture of stoner rock, heavy psych and doom metal. Shortly after their formation they published a self release, Cyclopean Ritual/The Third Eye (2015), followed by the EP Celestial Mistress (2016) and the two full albums Temporal Rifts (2017) and The Horologist (2019).
