Weed, chicken, weed… How about salads, medicines, cosmetics? All this has been at everyone’s fingertips for centuries – in the form of surrounding nature, which willingly shares what it has. You just have to get acquainted with it. Herbal workshops will be held twice a month in two forms of classes. Stationary classes, during which participants will acquire knowledge, prepare preserves, macerates, vinegar or medicinal tinctures, as well as open-air ones, in order to learn to recognize the most popular species used in native herbalism and wild cuisine. They will focus on the most accessible but little known plants. You will also be able to learn about herbal health and safety – harvesting, drying, storing the raw material, preparing for consumption to achieve the intended effects. Attractive form of classes and curiosities from traditional culture will allow to acquire knowledge and its practical use.
The classes are conducted by Sara Orzechowska, an herbal merchandising expert, currently a PhD student at the Nicolaus Copernicus University, who explores the issue of herbalism in Polish folklore. She is the author and lecturer of classes and projects related to this subject.
Sessions will be held once every two weeks, on Tuesdays, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
