– Arcangelo Corelli: Concerto grosso op. 6 No. 8 „Christmas Concerto“
– Peteris Vasks: Epifania
– Jana Vöröšová: World premiere of composition for children’s choir and orchestra commissioned by Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra
PRSO’S Christmas evening will bring Baroque and modern music. The orchestra’s concertmasters, violinists Vlastimil Kobrle and Petr Zdvihal and cellist Pavel Ludvík will open with the Christmas Concerto with the Italian composer Arcangelo Corelli, who played a key role in the development of the concerti grossi form. This will be followed by a ten-minute meditative lyric composition Epiphany by perhaps the most important contemporary Latvian composer, Peteris Vasks. The festive programme will culminate with a new composition, which the leading Czech composer Jana Vöröšová, winner of the Czech Philharmonic composer contest, wrote for the Czech Radio Children’s Choir and PRSO.
