Centrum św. Jana
The St John's Centre was established in 1995 as a result of an agreement between the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre and the Archdiocese of Gdansk, owner of St John's Church in Gdansk. By mutual agreement, the NCK undertook to manage the reconstruction of the dilapidated building in order to launch a venue combining the functions of a concert and exhibition hall. Since its inception, the St John's Centre has hosted concerts, shows, performances, exhibitions and other artistic events. The main objective of the cultural activities taking place here is to create a place open to a variety of artistic projects and undertakings, a place that serves both artists and art consumers, a place where there is a natural synchronisation between the preserved historical and cultural heritage and the present day.
The primary tool for carry out these objectives is close cooperation between the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre and the majority of cultural institutions and organisations in Pomerania with a view to co-organising various artistic and cultural events. Thanks to such operating principles, over the course of 13 years St. John's Church has become a venue for the presentation of events within the framework of well–known, cyclical festivals such as: Shakespeare Festival, Midsummer Celebrations, Festival of Music Inspired by Folklore Sounds of the North, Festival of World Cultures Window on the World, Gdańsk Music Spring, Gospel Music Festival Camp Meeting, Star Festival.
