Blood Orange

Since 2011, Devonté Hynes has released fantastic albums under the name Blood Orange that oscillate between Dreampop and R'n'B. His latest release, Freetown Sound, was released in 2016, and no less than a masterpiece, where everything is just right, from the artwork to the haunting lyrics and the well-meaning songwriting to the finely produced sound. Hynes then combines the personal with the political, approaching the themes of the Black Lives Matter movement with a keen eye. And while his previous bands or projects have focused more on anger (Test Icicles) or wit (Lightspeed Champion), Blood Orange remains a thoroughly intimate affair, despite or perhaps because of the accessible, dazzling sound. In addition to his own projects, Hynes has been able to gather many new fans in recent years: for example, he also worked as a producer for Beyoncé's sister Solange, for Florence And The Machine and for Carly Rae Jepsen.
