Silent Alarm by Bloc Party from 2005 is still one of the strongest debuts in recent music history. Just listen to the awesome opener Like Eating Glass: the slowly swelling guitar sounds, the snare, the soft alarm sounds, until after 30 seconds this incredible drum groove kicks in and finally Kele Okereke's dramatic voice sounds: "It's so cold in this house / Open mouth swallowing / The children sent home from school / Will not stop crying." In addition, they have released songs like Helicopter, Banquet, This Modern Love and finally the melancholy song So Here We Are.
