Biohazard

Metal, Hardcore | The band Biohazard was by far the most commercially successful act to come out of the New York hardcore scene, receiving heavy airplay on MTV and selling millions of album during the height of their fame in the 1990s—reaching the rock mainstream as close as a hardcore group could. Granted, Biohazard wasn't a straight hardcore band—their sound leaned heavily into crossover thrash territory, as well as, pioneeringly, included elements of hip-hop; they generally toured with metal bands, finding a place for themselves in the genre's late 90s shifting landscape. They released eight albums, which included collaborations with the likes of Phil Anselmo, Igor Cavalera, DJ Lethal and Corey Taylor, before disbanding in 2004. Biohazard reunited in 2008 and have since released a single record, 2012's Reborn in Defiance.
