Binker Goldin Quartet and Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet will perform at Jazz Goes to Town Festival on 10. October.

This is the first concert of British saxophonist Binker Golding’s quartet in the Czech Republic. Golding is, next to Shabak Hutchings, recognised as a key figure of the dynamically developing London jazz scene. He became popoular mostly for his musical duo Binker & Moss formed with drummer Moses Boyd. The two received prestigious awards such as Jazz FM Award or MOBO Award for best jazz album. At Jazz Goes to Town he will present his new band which contrasts with his previous free-jazz-and-beats work and masterfully develops jazz fusion. This fusion sophisticatedly blends 80s and 90s jazz with tributes to Michael Brecker, and soul and afrobeat with dynamic contemporary London jazz. Quartet will play at 8 pm.

Binker Golding – tenor saxophone Joe Armon-Jones – piano Sam Jones – drums Daniel Casimir – double bass

Bassist Wojtek Mazolewski and his quintet have been leading musicians of contemporary Polish jazz during the last decade. Since the 90s, Mazolewski has been widely known on the Polish jazz (and other) scene which he joined as a member of the band Paralaksa and a founder of the iconic band Pink Freud. His is one of the few Polish jazzmen who have been able to maintain popularity both among the avantgarde community and the general public. With remarkable ease Mazolewski combines traditional jazz with modern methods, analogue sounds with electronics, Miles Davis’ and Eric Dolphy’s legacies with pop, reggae, rock, and dance music passages. The quintet will play at 9:30 pm.

Oskar Török – trumpet Marek Pospieszalski – tenor saxophone Joanna Duda – piano Jakub Janicki – drums Wojtek Mazolewski – double bass
