Beam Splitter and Plantae Carnivorae concert as part of the Warsaw edition of Avant Art Festival 2021.

Beam Splitter is a duo for voice, trombone and analog electronics. Using pure acoustic sounds and amplified sound sources, the duo combines two individual voices in a distinct dialogue, beyond the limits of the bodily elements of extended technique and sound. Intimacy and conflict, seamless connection and irrevocable breakdown are present. Both deal with these extremes with a kind of improvisational grace, a pursuit of a common goal.that becomes apparent as the two characters intertwine. It's a very honest metaphor for human relationships in the process, which even in quiet moments can be revealing of a person. Since beginning their collaboration in 2015, Nørstebø and Chen have toured extensively around the world. They have played together in Europe, New Zealand, Argentina, Brazil, Taiwan and the USA. They have presented their music in various spaces. They have collaborated with artists such as Phil Minton, Bob Ostertag, Valentin Tszin, Flavia Ghisalberti and the Norwegian duo Streifenjunko with Eivind Lønning and Espen Reinertsen.

Plantae Carnivorae is a duo founded by Dominik Strycharski and Barbara Drazkov. The collaboration between the two artists began in 2017 with a joint concert featuring the music of Luis Andriessen at FiNA. It was then that the artists decided to collaborate permanently on their own repertoire. What they will present is contemporary music that combines the sensuality and sensibility of electroacoustics with the unusual preparation of the piano, and the intriguing collaboration between the acoustic instrument and its electronic manipulation. The concert combines composed and improvised elements in various intuitive and conducted ways. The duo's vision is a conceptual yet very direct contemporary music. The duo's upcoming album, to be released on Bolt Records, will be about meat and insectivorous plants. This type of plants, unique in the history of evolution, served as a kind of inspiration for the music of Dominik and Barbara, in the context of their work on the colors and structure of compositions and open forms - the music of the duo is in a way "biological".
