Barbara Gutaj-Monowid
Soprano, soloist at the Grand Theater in Poznan. She began her musical education by learning to play the violin at the H. Wieniawski School of Music in Poznań. She then attended the Olga Slawska-Lipczynska Ballet School for 5 years. She graduated from the M. Karlowicz High School of Music in Poznan in the rhythm section, while also studying solo singing in the class of Jolanta Kajdasz, MA. In 1997 she enrolled in the Vocal and Acting Department of the Academy of Music in Poznan in the vocal class of Bożena Karłowska and later Antonina Kowtunow. She graduated from the Academy with honors in 2003. She is the winner of the 4th prize at the Feruccio Tagliavini International Vocal Competition in Deutschlandsberg, Austria, and a scholarship recipient of the Stiftung für Internationale Meisterkurse für Musik in Zurich. She has participated in many vocal master classes conducted by Prof. Yevgeni Nesterenko, Prof. Ernst Haefliger, Marina di Marco, Maria Pellegrini, Halina Lukomskaya, Prof. Peter Tschaplik, among others. She made her debut at the Grand Theater in Poznan in 1999 with the part of Young Galina in Marcel Landowski's opera Galina. Currently, she sings the parts of Susanna in the opera The Marriage of Figaro, Papagena in Mozart's The Magic Flute, Bird 3 in Przybylski's Anhelli, and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen, among others. He also enjoys performing oratorio-cantata music and songs.
