Baranek (lamb) is a plastering technique commonly used on the surface of buildings in Poland. Baranek is also the name of the collaboration between Zuzanna Piętkowska and Alka Nauman for The Zelmot Experiment, an artist residency at ROD Zelmot that was initiated in October 2020. The Zelmot Experiment was created for Naprzód działki by Stroboskop Art Space and SAM Rozkwit, Naprzód działki is supported by Zieleń Warszawska. What began as a one-month residency in October 2020 has transformed into a process-based collaborative research project between Piętkowska and Nauman, that spans from Warsaw to Crete. Over the course of the past six months, images, performances, sculptures, an instagram account, and countless other gestures have been created and enacted in the name of Baranek. A selection of works from this project will be on view in Stroboskop.
