Babu Król + Smutne Piosenki

Premiere of the album New Wave of Polish Dancing vol. 1 & 2. The original dansing album was created in the spring of 2018 thanks to the cooperation of the Association of Young Culture Animators from Poznań, the ladies from the “Radość” Senior Club in Gniezno and the leader of Pogodno band, Jacek Szymkiewicz vel Budyń. The cooperation consisted in searching for the most romantic stories from the years of seniors' youth during workshops within the “OFF Opera” project. By lucky coincidence, all the stories we heard during the meetings concerned dancing with strangers and dancing. The ladies spread before us a picture of this forgotten form of social meetings in evening costumes and brought us closer to the whole canon of behaviour, dance steps and musical genres, which are now referred to as “retro”. These stories, strong, beautiful and touching, immediately turned into songs, and songs into material for a dansing record. Budyń played it first for the ladies from Gniezno, and then recorded with an excellent Poznań band Smutne Piosenki and proudly presents on the album and concerts entitled “Nowa fala polskiego dansingu”.
