Avatar
Avatar is a Swedish band, formed in 2001 in Gothenburg. Their music is a combination of melodic death metal and nu metal. Since 2012, the band consists of vocalist Johannes Eckerström, drummer John Alfredsson, guitarists Jonas Jarlsby and Tim Öhrström and bassist Henrik Sandelin. They did not choose their name at random: an avatar is a manifestation of a deity in corporeal form, or an icon representing a distinct being in another realm. Both meanings describe their music perfectly in their view. They currently have eight studio albums to their credit, the latest being Hunter Gatherer from 2020.
