The Artistic Muses is an online lecture series about extraordinary women who inspired great artists. Suzanne Valadon worked for ten years as a model for leading painters such as Pierre Puvis de Chavannes, Jean Jacques Henner, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Frederico Zandomeneghi, Henri Toulouse Lautrec, Miguel Utrillo y Molins, Santiago Rusiñol y Prats or Erik Satie. The heroine of the second lecture will be Bella Rosenfeld, muse and first wife of Marc Chagall. Bella often visited her husband’s canvases, and the most famous paintings are dedicated to their mutual love. Kiki de Montparnasse was an ornament of Parisian bohemia. She has come a long way – from a disadvantaged girl from the countryside, deprived of parental love, to an adored and famous model, painter, and performer, dubbed the queen of Paris, which in the 1920s was the center of the art world. The final lecture will be devoted to Helga Testorf, who was repeatedly painted by American artist Andrew Wyeth.
