About Metronome Blues
METRONOME BLUES sprung to life in 2015 as the post-Gerda Blank solo project of Czech residing kiwi-expat Rhys Braddock. It soon morphed into a real band. Years of stockpiling acoustic/electronic/noise recordings done on his various travels provided much of the original
source material. Czechs Honza Čapek and Lukáš Bauman are the backbone for Rhys’ sonic wanderings.
The eponymous first album, which was released digitally in June 2015 as the original solo project, was recorded in various cities and studios between 2000–2008: Melbourne, Tokyo, London and, finally New Plymouth, NZ.
Live, Metronome Blues is chasing some kind of emotional release, a blissful intensity, an emptiness of mind. Songs are reworked, refitted, bent, twisted into new shapes, extended and often open-ended. All for the thrill of the chase…
