Macka B

Macka B, actually Christopher MacFarlane, is a British reggae artist.

After school, Macka B practiced DJing and decided to live by the rules of the rastafarian faith that became the center of his life. Macka B first became active with some friends in the Exodus sound system.

In 1983 he won the DJ competition at the Rising Star Club in Bilston, Jamaica. Then he was invited to numerous radio broadcasts and his fame grew.

Macka B worked with Wassifa Soundsystems the whole time. After a few tapes, the EP Bible Reader was released on Fashion Records and was quite successful in the reggae single charts.

After a meeting with Mad Professor, Macka B signed with the label Ariwa and recorded the LP Sign Of The Times, which took number 1 in the reggae LP charts. He joined the Channel 4 Club Mix and the Sunsplash at Wembley Arena in 1986 and started a European tour.

His second album We’ve Had Enough was released by Macka B in 1987. In 1988, he returned to Jamaica and recorded Love It In Jamaica and Slow Down Driver for the Black Scorpio label and Looks Are Deceiving for Ariwa.

In 1989, he released the LP Buppie Culture and celebrated the liberation of Nelson Mandela with the single Proud of Mandela in 1990, which later appeared on the album Natural Suntan. In the 1990s, Macka B recorded eight more albums for Ariwa and continued to work with other artists and labels.
