Indi Stivín

Indi Stivín, representative of the third generation of a well-known musical family, did not avoid the obligatory violin and piano during his first encounter with music in early childhood, but already at the age of nine he was enchanted by the double bass - "with its deep and soothing sound," as he says. He wrote his first compositions for this instrument at that time.

He studied playing the seemingly unattractive and, moreover, dimensionally and technically demanding instrument with Dalibor Tkadlčík, the first double bassist of the Prague State Opera, professor Ján Krigovský from the Bánská Bystrica Academy of Arts and at the Prague Conservatory in the class of Jaroslav Foltýn. He completed master classes with the world's leading double bass players, such as Thomas Martin, Miloslav Jelínek, Zsolt Fejervári, Catalyn Rotaru, Gary Karr or with violist Yuri Bashmet.

The list of successes he has recorded at interpretation competitions since he was less than twelve years old is admirable: he won first prizes at the International Double Bass Competition in Blatná (2012, 2014, 2016), in Wrocław (2013), in Bánská Bystrica (2013-2016), at the PRO BOHEMIA competition in Ostrava (2015), at the František Černý and Jan Geissel International Double Bass Competition (2016), in 2016 he received a special award for exceptional musicians under the age of 17, the Victor Dijon de Monteton Award in Zurich, he became the absolute winner of the Young Soloists of South Bohemia competition Philharmonic Orchestra (2017), he received the same award at the Pro Bohemia International Interpretation Competition in Ostrava (2017), he became a laureate of the International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen, Germany, etc.

In the 2016/2017 concert season, he made a significant impact as a soloist of the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc and the South Bohemian Philharmonic.
