About Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestra
The Cascade Youth Symphony Orchestras form an organization (the CYSO) which provides a wholesome and stimulating environment for talented and gifted young musicians. An emphasis is placed on creating an atmosphere that encourages, challenges and develops their fullest potential in the art of performance.
The CYSO was founded in 1976 as a youth extension of the adult Cascade Symphony Orchestra, headquartered in Edmonds, Washington. By 1985, when Gerry Jon Marsh took over as Musical Director, the orchestra was operating independently from the Cascade Symphony.
Students range in age up to 21 and members find opportunities to perform original orchestral literature in the form of major symphonies, concerti and overtures.
