About Ars Chori
The Ars Chori Vocal Ensemble is composed of music lovers, amateurs and professionals specializing in polyphonic singing. It was founded in 2001. The conductor of the ensemble is Zbigniew Tupczyński – a graduate of Choral Conducting in the class of Professor Mieczysław Nowakowski and Interdepartmental Early Music Studies conducted by Agata Sapiecha, as well as a tenor in the Choir of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. The repertoire of the ensemble includes multi-voice a cappella arrangements of well-known and lesser known compositions by authors from all over the world, as well as concerts and oratorio works accompanied by instrumental ensembles, both chamber groups and symphony orchestras.
The ensemble’s concerts are often thematic spectacles, where, apart from singing, one can admire dance performed by dance groups and acting by the announcers. In 2015 Ars Chori made its debut at the Philharmonic with the concert Treny to the words of Aldona Kraus in the arrangement by Jerzy Cembrzyński. In December 2018 he performed with two concerts for children and young people entitled: A Century Christmas at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. In 2018, it performed three concerts entitled “The Hundred Years Star” at the National Philharmonic in Warsaw. In 2018 it performed three concerts entitled Sacrum and profanum. Two faces of Antonio Vivaldi. Ars Chori took part in a benefit of Sławomir Czarnecki where it performed the first performances of works written especially for this occasion.
