About Amsterdam Klezmer Band
What began with street music in the Dutch capital in the mid-1990s has long since filled large concert halls and festival venues all over the world. The Amsterdam Klezmer Band (AKB) has retained its street music style to this day. The formation plays an original variant of the Progressive Klezmer with rough edges, but also suitable for parties. The Dutch combine the Klezmer tradition with Slavic from the Black Sea, Balkan Brass and Eastern European rhythms, which are hard to beat in terms of complexity. There are also occasional classic moments, blues, jazz, reggae and rap notes. A unique blend of styles that can only come from the Amsterdam Klezmer Band. On its latest album, the AKB also stands convincingly for the transmission of tradition and modernity, preservation and change.
