Hailing from Mexico City, producer Immanuel Miralda – known as Amantes del Futuro – is a key producer of the new wave of futuristic cumbia currently triumphing on dance floors from Medellin to Monterrey. His sound is a perfect example of the attitude that the new generation carving the genre has towards its musical culture and traditions; with digital takes on rootsy and psychedelic chicha, homages to sonideros culture with its chatter and greetings, slow and heavy rebajadas combined with modern bass production producing a cosmic and spacious effect. Miralda, who previously co-founded the Afrodita and Los Wendys projects, made his debut as Amantes in 2020 with the album Sabor sónico; 2023 saw his second and most recent release, Kumbiatitlán.
