Aldous Harding
Aldous Harding is the professional name of New Zealand singer and songwriter Hannah Sian Topp, born in 1990 in Lyttelton on the South Island of New Zealand. She performs and records as an indie folk artist.
Harding’s musical career began at an early age, and she participated in her first recordings while still a teenager. Her debut studio album, Aldous Harding, was released in 2014 through independent labels, including Flying Nun Records. In 2017, her second studio album, Party, followed; it was recorded in a studio in Bristol, United Kingdom, in collaboration with producer John Parish. The album was released by the labels 4AD and Flying Nun and received nominations for Album of the Year at the New Zealand Music Awards and for yáIMPALA’s European Album of the Year Award*.
Her third studio album, Designer, was released in 2019 and was also produced by John Parish. The album includes the track The Barrel, which received the APRA Silver Scroll Award.
Her fourth studio album, Warm Chris, was released in March 2022 through the label 4AD and was again produced by John Parish. Recording took place at Rockfield Studios in Wales, and the album includes singles such as Lawn and Fever. Warm Chris reached number one on the New Zealand albums chart.
In addition to her solo albums, Harding has collaborated with other artists. In 2025, she contributed vocals to the single No Front Teeth on the album Glory by the American musician Perfume Genius.
