Aga Derlak

Aga Derlak's work is, above all, unbridled expression and unstoppable freedom, which directs her music down new, winding paths, through the history of her life, inspirations of jazz, Latin American folklore, classical music; inspirations which sometimes clash wonderfully, sometimes complement each other. And this dance between the correct and the incorrect, between the direct and the non-literal, the spoken and the unspoken, is what she invites us to do. Her work is her courage, innovation, uniqueness, absolute sincerity in searching for greater meaning and significance of music in a world which so badly needs breath and truth.

Aga Derlak is a pianist, composer and educator. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston and the Academy of Music in Katowice, she studied under Michał Tokaj, Paweł Tomaszewski and Danilo Perez, pianist in Wayne Shorer's quartet. She tours the world, conducts workshops, and has taught at the Danilo Perez Foundation in Panama, encouraging her students to develop their courage in exercising their creative freedom. She has performed in Poland, USA, Panama, Mexico, Germany, Spain, Great Britain, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Moldavia, Italy, Czech Republic and Slovakia. She has collaborated with Andree Hayward, Louciana Souza, Claudio Ragazzi, Omar Diaz, Carlos Agrazal, PJ Anderson, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Jerzy Małek, Grzech Piotrowski, Andrzej Święs, Sabina Meck, Łukasz Żyta, among others.
