Workshops of the Theatre Institute within the series BodySpace focused on understanding the body as a key opening the door to new paths of movement. Movement beyond reason, conscious relinquishment of control, following of intuition.

During the workshop participants will use their bodies as keys to open doors that lead to the creation of new maps of feeling and the discovery of new paths of movement. Becoming attentive observers of themselves and the space they find themselves in, the participant will continually ask themselves: does our movement lead us anywhere, and if so, where, and what does it mean and why. Over the course of several days the workshop will tap into the source of improvisation that takes place within us, in the abundance that is within us. The classes will focus on movement that goes beyond reason, beyond the analytical, the thoughtful, the template, the learned, the familiar. They will check how far human movements are controlled and what consequences come from the conscious relinquishment of control; how it feels to let the body follow the intuition, or when movement is experienced only from the perspective of a passive observer - creating the illusion of the "possessed body". Awareness of time, space, musicality and their impact on mindfulness and Being will be important during the workshop. The workshop will focus on creating dance on one's own but also explore the possibilities of being inspired by others. For the class, participants need to prepare a tennis ball hooked on a string.

The classes will be led by Paweł Konior – performer, dancer and dance teacher. Studied at Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance. Perfected his dance technique in Holland, Belgium and Poland with such choreographers as Pedro Goucha, Einat Tuchman, Mor Shani, Rita Vilhena, T.r.a.s.h Company, Ugo Dehaes, Tomasz Wygoda and Iwona Olszowska. As a performer, he is interested in discovering new spaces in dance and an innovative approach to old forms of movement. He perceives dance as a study of the human soul. He seeks for individualization of movement and rhythm, which comes from the inside of a person and is as unique as fingerprints. The movement that fascinates him is organic, based on emotions, deepens the feeling and awareness of the body.
