*A series of lectures and online discussions organised by Cricoteka and the Centre of Research on the Avant-garde of the Jagiellonian University. This year under the motto Icons of the Avant-garde.
The new series of lectures from the ABC of the Avant-garde will select the most intriguing personalities from the vast gallery of artists associated with experimental art. The aim of the meetings will be to discover the unknown face of the avant-garde movement by observing recognisable artists from new perspectives, as well as to present leading representatives of the avant-gardes of Central Europe, forgotten New Art celebrities, and creators of bizarre, unconventional art fascinating in its distinctiveness. The protagonists will include both cult artists (such as Sergei Eisenstein or Tadeusz Peiper) and figures hitherto marginalized by the Polish reception of avant-garde art (such as Gherasim Luca or Mykhailo Semenko). The meetings will look for icons in all fields of creative activity: literature, cinema, theater, visual arts and music. Subsequent letters of the alphabet will open the doors to the inner worlds of fascinating people, who have unquestionably contributed to redefining our perception of art and turned it into a field of never-ending experiments. The premiere lecture presentations are followed by live Q&A sessions at 7 p.m.
