Westerman
The London-born and Athens-based singer-songwriter Westerman plays understated prog-tinged pop with a cerebral bent reminiscent of 1980s British sophisti-pop acts like Talk Talk and The Blue Nile, imbuing it with an intimate sensibility that has led to critical comparisons with Arthur Russell. After releasing a pair of EPs for the London indie Blue Flowers, he signed to the prominent label Partisan Records (Idles, PJ Harvey, DJ Rashad) for his 2020 full-length debut Your Hero Is Not Dead, deemed excellent by Pitchfork. His somophore record, An Inbuilt Fault, was released to critical acclaim in 2023.
