Wavves
Wavves is an American rock band formed in 2008 by singer-songwriter Nathan Williams. The current lineup features Alex Gates on guitar, Stephen Pope on bass, and Ross Traver on drums.
Wavves started in 2008 as a solo project of Nathan Williams. They gained traction with several singles and a cassette before releasing their self-titled debut. Ryan Ulsh later joined as a touring drummer. Their second album, Wavvves, was released in 2009.
In 2009, Williams had a public breakdown at Barcelona's Primavera Sound, forcing the band to cancel the rest of their European tour. After these events Ulsh left the band, and Zach Hill of Death Grips briefly took over as drummer. They recorded a full album which was expected to come out in late 2010 but never materialised. After 14 years, the full album, Babes, finally dropped on Wavves' Patreon in late 2023.
After Hill left the band, drummer Billy Hayes and bassist Stephen Pope joined Wavves in November 2009 and helped Williams record the band's third album, King of the Beach. Wavves then continued releasing albums: Afraid of Heights (2013), V (2015), a collaboration with Cloud Nothings titled No Life for Me (2015), You're Welcome (2017) and Hideaway (2021).
On 31 March, 2025, the band released the single Goner and announced their next album, Spun, set for release in June 2025.
