Vincenc Kummer
Vincenc Kummer (originally Čeněk Kummer) was born in Brno, where he also graduated in 1965 from the Leoš Janáček Conservatoire in double bass.During his studies he was already involved in the Brno jazz scene and the Brno Philharmonic. After leaving for military service in the Army Art Ensemble, Vincenc Kummer stayed in Prague, where he soon established himself.
Another important chapter in Vincenc's artistic career was his ten-year tenure in the Ladislav Staidl Orchestra, with which Vincenc Kummer accompanied Karel Gott. In 1981 Vincenc Kummer went into exile in Switzerland, where he gained a unique opportunity to play with the stars of European and American jazz.
After twenty-five years of successful work both in the field of performance and teaching, Vincenc Kummer returned from Zurich to his native Brno, where, in addition to composing and arranging, he cooperates with the local jazz scene as a double bassist with undiminished energy.
