Trio Abozekrys

Mohamed Abozekry - group leader - was born in Cairo in 1991. At the age of 11, he began to learn oud (classic Arabic lute). His teacher for the next four years was appreciated all over the world, an eminent Iraqi - Naseer Shamma. He also studied with Egyptian masters - Hazema Shaheen and Nehad El Sayed. In 2007, he graduated with honors from the renowned university - Cairo House of Oriental Lute (Beit El Oud) as a soloist, thus becoming the youngest professional oud teacher in the Arab world at the age of 15. Abdallah Abozekry is a young, talented musician playing saz (long-necked lute). At the age of only 20 he already started his own band, Abdallah Abozekry Quartet, with which he performs his own compositions - a combination of classical and traditional Egyptian music with elements of jazz. Currently, he also works as a lecturer in Cairo Beit El Oud.
