Karolina Cicha
Karolina Cicha is a composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist - recognized for her original technique of playing several instruments at once. She is a laureate of Grand Prix and Audience Award at the Polish Radio Folk Festival "New Tradition". In 2015 she was in the Official Selection at the prestigous international festival WOMEX. With her music she has visited several dozen festivals in Europe, Asia and America.
Her creative path began with solo concerts and theater Gardzienice. In 2009 Cicha started her adventure with rock music: Along with the song Moil Without Tomorrow she found herself on the Gajcy album released by the Warsaw Rising Museum. Since that debut – moving more and more towards traditional and ethnic music – she has released several albums, among others Wieloma językami (2013) devoted to the languages of national minorities in Podlaskie Voivodeship; Jidyszland (2015) devoted to the works of Jewish poets creating in Yiddish; Poland-Pakistan (2016) – fusion with quawwali singer Shafqat Ali Khan; Płyta tatarska (2017) - in which Cicha has delved into the musical heritage of Polish Tatars. In her latest album Jeden – wiele (2018) Cicha decided to explore the sacred heritage of her native Podlasie.
