Moscow in the 1930s. The city, where God has been abolished by decree, falls under the rule of black magic. The story of the writer's love for Margaret is interwoven with the tale of a visit from Satan, who appears in the guise of a foreign consultant in an expensive suit. The play provokes questions about the importance of spirituality, truth and freedom in our lives. Bulgakov's world is guided by several narrators, and the performance is enriched by elements of theatre of form and puppet theatre.
