Pierre Brochant is a rich publisher and a man of success. On Tuesday evenings with his friends, he organizes the title "dinners for a fool" - contests for which each of them has to bring an exceptional loser. When Brochant meets a little clever accountant from the Ministry of Finance, he thinks he has already won the next dinner in his pocket. The case will cause things to turn out unfavorably for him.
