Anna Mierzwa plays Kalina Jędrusik in a one-woman show at the Nowy in Poznań.

Bubbles, the color brown, white font on a red background – this is Coca-Cola. Closed eyelids, full lips, a sensual whisper – that's Kalina Jędrusik, the great diva of Polish song. What do they have in common? Both are trademarked.

This is the story of a woman who did not want to be seen as a human being, but as a phenomenon unfettered by the rules of the world – although fate never let her forget she was mortal after all. The story of the constructor of her own myth, who resented its use. Of the great falsifier, who was most afraid of being locked into a single form. Of a myth, concocted from roles, press, anecdotes, memories of lovers and her Pygmalionesque husband. Of a woman – a matryoshka, although, she said, matryoshkas frighten her. Finally – of a trademark, used and reproduced in subsequent stories.
